The Ferrett's Journal - Sometimes, We All Fall... →
If your kid’s five years old and has never had a busted arm, or a cut head, or at least a couple of bruises, then your kid’s probably in trouble.
Now, I know that sounds horrible, as though I’m wishing broken arms upon toddlers. I’m not. But if a kid is exploring properly, she’s going to fall down occasionally – and fall down hard. The cuts are the sign of a kid pushing the envelope...

Thoughts on a Coming Storm
There is something so elemental, so primal about a summer thunderstorm. You watch as the clouds roll in from the distance, cloaking the sky in muted blues and grays. Color seems impossibly more saturated in those moments before the sky opens up – greens and yellows and reds and pinks. The birds are all singing, a warning to the world - it is on the horizon. Then come the first hints of rumbles in...

Seriously, wacom?
Turns out the wibbly-wobbly line problem I was having with my wacom intuos2 - draw vertically or horizontally and it was perfectly straight, but try to draw diagonally and it turned into a snaky wibbly line - was easily fixed by turning a teeny-tiny screw under the mouse buttons.
Seriously? I thought my tablet was bent or broken or something. I stopped using the thing for years because I thought...

Best retail experience on my last day!
I was putting clearance stickers on...stickers, and running a register at the same time because it was a pretty slow day. A man and a six or seven year old boy came up for a check-out.
Boy: What are you doing?
Me: I'm changing the prices on these stickers so people will know they're less expensive.
Boy: Who would buy something like this?
(he points to a sparkly rose sticker with the word love emblazoned across the stem)
Man: A lot of girls like sparkly stickers like that.
Man:
Man: And some boys, too.
Me: And some boys.
Boy: Really?
Me: There's nothing wrong with boys liking sparkly pink stickers.
Man: I agree. I agree.

Fandom Aunties: I’m a girl, 18, and I might be... →
I’m a girl, 18, and I might be bisexual. I like guys for sure, but I’ve also had many crushes on girls since I was 13. It’s confusing though, because apart from actual crushes, I’m not attracted to girls as much as I am to guys. I do notice if a girl’s pretty, but don’t straight girls do that too? So I’m still figuring it out, but I don’t know whether to tell my mum. I tell her lots of stuff...
